0.47 x 10.08 x 9.76 Inches; 32 pages; Nurse Lugton was asleep. She had given one great snore. She had dropped her head; thrust her spectacles up her forehead; and there she sat...So begins one of Virginia Woolf's most enchanting stories. As Nurse Lugton dozes in her chair by the hearth, the drawing-room curtain she has been sewing lies motionless across her lap. But in the curtain's intricate pattern of wild animals, lakes, bridges, and towns, a wonderful and magical world slowly unfolds. This story was originally found among the pages of Virginia Woolf's manuscript for her well-known novel "Mrs. Dalloway" and was probably written in the fall of 1924, but it was not actually published until 1965. In the forward to the 1966 edition, Leonard Woolf says that the story was written for Virginia's niece Ann Stephen, when she was visiting her aunt in the country.

To the Lighthouse Woolf, Virginia; Drabble, Margaret Oxford Univ Press 0192834134 / 9780192834133 1998 Paperback Good
; Oxford World's Classics; 0.71 x 7.72 x 4.88 Inches; 328 pages; This novel is an extraordinarily poignant evocation of a lost happiness that lives on in the memory. For years now the Ramsays have spent every summer in their holiday home in Scotland, and they expect these summers will go on forever. In this, her most autobiographical novel, Virginia Woolf captures the intensity of childhood longing and delight, and the shifting complexity of adult relationships. From an acute awareness of transcience, she creates an enduring work of art.
